Mohammad

We are broken-hearted to report that Mohammad, one of the eldest sons of an Afghan family we have been serving, was killed over the weekend by a hit and run accident. Mohammad’s family was one of the first Afghan families we connected into a mentorship. We were so pleased as we watched their mentors pour their hearts into this family, practicing English, taking them shopping, eating meals together, and more. We were also excited to watch as the community blessed this family with a bike, and we were amazed as a local Walmart manager even offered a job to Mohammad!
Unfortunately, it was on his way home from this new job, on this new bike, that Mohammad was struck by a vehicle. Please pray for this dear Afghan family, and especially the father, as they mourn this devastating loss. To escape the turmoil of Afghanistan, only to lose your son just a month after securing safety in Amarillo. We are broken-hearted for what this family must be experiencing!
And please pray for our team as we keep pressing ahead. This feels like a spiritual attack designed to prevent us from boldly caring for these families. Pray for courage and peace in our hearts as we press ahead to care for them anyway. What the enemy intends for harm, may God use to save many people.
Lord, have mercy.
