Roundtable Roundup

“I have already felt extremely encouraged and inspired from this first day.” “Just looking around and talking to people I can see how needed this event is.”

“Wonderful time meeting others that are ministering in similar way. Knowing that we are not alone in this journey of cross cultural ministry.”

“I feel reaffirmed in my call to work with refugees. I have a new fire to keep serving and loving each refugee in my path, and know that I am not alone on this path.”

These are just a few of the messages we received during the Refugee Regional Roundtable last month! This event was special because it was the first time that those of us who work with refugees and immigrants in our area made a point of gathering all together, regardless of what ministry, church or organization we serve with. Nearly 80 different volunteers, pastors, case workers and community members from Amarillo, DFW, Austin, Cactus and Abilene spent a day and a half learning from each other, hearing updates on current situations and trends, and encouraging one another. Many good connections were made between people who likely would have never met, and our team was confident in the outcomes of all our work that went into making it happen. Thanks to those of you who prayed, attended and asked about the conference. We are looking forward to seeing the fruit of those connections in the coming months. You can check out some photos from the event on our facebook page.

Refugee 101 is next week!

The next Refugee 101 class is next week on September 12th from 6-8 PM. What is it? Check out our Instagram story to learn what Refugee 101 is all about.

Office Update

Our team has loved being all together in our new office space next door to The PLACE. Renovations in the back classroom (pictured), kitchenette and bathrooms are almost finished! As you may remember, we moved in to the office space over the summer after previously being split between two locations. Unfortunately, renovation costs have exceeded our initial budget, so if you would like to help offset some of those costs, please consider giving. Stay tuned for a video tour of the new space and a chance to come and pray over the new RLP offices this Fall.

Save the Date

The Panhandle Gives is our annual fundraising campaign, and it’s just around the corner! Mark your calendars and plan to give during those 9 days this November. Your gift goes further as each dollar gets amplified by funds through the Amarillo Area Foundation. Save your November donations for that week. More details to come! You can read all about The Panhandle Gives at https://www.thepanhandlegives.org/

RLP fam…don’t be strangers!

We are praying together for RLP, refugees in our city and more every Wednesday at 12:30 in the RLP Conference Room. No need to RSVP, just show up! Join us for 10 minutes or the whole hour.

We’ve loved playing with those who’ve made it to our Saturday frisbee games. We plan to keep this going into the Fall because we’ve enjoyed it so much. Spectators and players welcome. Bring your family, your friends, your kids and hang with us!
